Yesterday I did not go to the shala. Somewhat difficult, since I heard the teacher in the back of my mind repeating: Sunday is not a day off! Led Class is the most important class of the week! I compromised a bit by practicing at home at 7 AM. After that I had to leave my house to catch the train to my home town where I volunteered at an urban & hip hop festival. I helped selling T-shirts, postcards, stickers, vinyl records, art and spray cans. I did this for eight hours straight. I only left my spot twice to visit the toilet. We did not make much money but I had much fun. I met a lot of old friends from back in the days, and my parents and brother came to see me. People I did not know came and chatted, or asked me directions about the festival.
I realized Ashtanga has helped me doing this kind of thing. Before, I was quite shy. I think I still am, but not as much as I used to be. I tend to like people a lot more. I think I can see the good in people better. I am more relaxed, friendly and patient with people than before (I practiced Ashtanga). Children are very open to me. I am much more at ease with myself and less tense and nervous. I thank the practice of Ashtanga for this.
